New year, new updates to the Upper Hand app. Our team has been off to a fast start in 2024, and we’re excited to share the newest features that have gone live inside the Upper Hand app!
It’s been nearly a year since the world came to a screeching halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This affected businesses across the sports and fitness industry, and has had adverse effects on the place we call home. Upper Hand is proud of our Downtown Indianapolis headquarters, and we know that like many cities, Indianapolis is missing the vibrancy it once had.
With many businesses permanently closing their doors and homelessness on the rise, our team is eager to lend a helping hand to those in need and play a part in bringing people Back Downtown.
That is why we are excited to announce the launch of Helping Hands, Upper Hand’s community outreach initiative. The purpose of Helping Hands is to focus on giving back to our city and our industry through team-wide volunteer opportunities.
In fall 2020, we surveyed our team to find out what causes and social issues they were most interested in being involved with. We found an incredibly diverse range of passions and interests, and learned that a significant percentage of our Upper Hand team were already involved in the community in some capacity.
The Helping Hands initiative will use the causes and issues our team is most passionate about to guide future volunteer initiatives.
As Indianapolis continues to battle the long-term effects of the coronavirus, Upper Hand is committed to coming together as a company to lend a helping hand. Upper Hand has formed the Helping Hands committee to help spearhead these company initiatives and bring ideas to the table.
“We are eager to make an impact in our community and provide an outlet for our team to get involved,” says Courtney Kerr, Communications Specialist. “So often, the biggest barrier to entry is knowing where to start, so we are excited to bring opportunities to the team that will eliminate those challenges and allow us to share the spirit and energy of Upper Hand with others.”Last holiday season, Upper Hand partnered with Project A.N.G.E.L. to sponsor a local family for Christmas. This quarter, the Helping Hands committee has organized opportunities to donate to local nonprofits whose needs grew immensely due to the continued hardships brought by the pandemic. In the months and years to come, we are also eager to roll up our sleeves and participate in company-wide service projects. This is an especially exciting year for Indianapolis, who announced they are hosting the entire NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament in March. Most recently, the city also confirmed they will host both the Men’s and Women’s Big Ten Basketball tournaments. As we continue to move forward, we are eager to lend a helping hand in preparation for a brighter future.
